Port City Bowling Club is entering an exciting new chapter following a multi‑million‑dollar renovation, and we’re seeking a passionate Functions & Events Manager to build, lead and deliver unforgettable experiences from the ground up.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a clean‑slate role, work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in shaping the Club’s functions and events offering.

About the Role
As Functions & Events Manager, you will take full ownership of the end‑to‑end event journey- from first enquiry through to flawless delivery. With flexibility built into the working structure, this role suits someone who thrives in a dynamic hospitality environment where no two days are the same.

You will:
  • Create and launch function packages aligned to the Club’s new facilities and market demand
  • Proactively convert enquiries and leads into successful paid events
  • Plan and coordinate all event logistics, including room set‑ups, catering, entertainment and AV
  • Lead, train and support a small team to deliver exceptional service
  • Be hands‑on during event delivery, including set‑up, execution and pack‑down
  • Collaborate closely with Chefs, Duty Managers and senior leadership to ensure seamless operations
  • Build strong client relationships and exceed guest expectations
  • Review and critique events, driving continuous improvement and exceptional customer experiences
Our Ideal Candidate
You’re a confident, organised and people‑focused events leader who enjoys being on the floor as much as planning behind the scenes.

You will bring:
  • Experience managing a wide range of functions such as weddings, wakes, celebrations and corporate events (ideally 3+ years)
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to adapt on the go
  • Confidence using technology, including Microsoft Office and function booking platforms (experience with iVvy highly regarded)
  • A keen eye for detail and pride in delivering high‑quality events
  • An outgoing personality with the ability to connect with diverse clientele
  • RSA accreditation (essential)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Hospitality, Tourism or Event Management (desirable)
What’s in It for You
  • Excellent remuneration package
  • Five weeks annual leave
  • 25% staff discount on food and beverage
  • Supplied uniforms
  • Ongoing training and exposure to industry events
  • Genuine opportunity for growth and career progression
  • Free onsite parking
  • A supportive, inclusive workplace that values its people
This is a role where you can truly shape something special, grow your career and be part of a Club that invests in its people and its future.
