Are you an experienced events professional ready to make your mark in a newly renovated, high‑profile venue?
Port City Bowling Club is entering an exciting new chapter following a multi‑million‑dollar renovation, and we’re seeking a passionate Functions & Events Manager to build, lead and deliver unforgettable experiences from the ground up.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a clean‑slate role, work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in shaping the Club’s functions and events offering.
About the Role
As Functions & Events Manager, you will take full ownership of the end‑to‑end event journey- from first enquiry through to flawless delivery. With flexibility built into the working structure, this role suits someone who thrives in a dynamic hospitality environment where no two days are the same.
You will:
- Create and launch function packages aligned to the Club’s new facilities and market demand
- Proactively convert enquiries and leads into successful paid events
- Plan and coordinate all event logistics, including room set‑ups, catering, entertainment and AV
- Lead, train and support a small team to deliver exceptional service
- Be hands‑on during event delivery, including set‑up, execution and pack‑down
- Collaborate closely with Chefs, Duty Managers and senior leadership to ensure seamless operations
- Build strong client relationships and exceed guest expectations
- Review and critique events, driving continuous improvement and exceptional customer experiences
You’re a confident, organised and people‑focused events leader who enjoys being on the floor as much as planning behind the scenes.
You will bring:
- Experience managing a wide range of functions such as weddings, wakes, celebrations and corporate events (ideally 3+ years)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to adapt on the go
- Confidence using technology, including Microsoft Office and function booking platforms (experience with iVvy highly regarded)
- A keen eye for detail and pride in delivering high‑quality events
- An outgoing personality with the ability to connect with diverse clientele
- RSA accreditation (essential)
- Tertiary qualifications in Hospitality, Tourism or Event Management (desirable)
