Muswellbrook RSL Sub Branch Club Ltd is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join its senior leadership team and help lead the next chapter of this well‑established, Profit for Purpose club group.

With a proud history spanning nearly 80 years, the Muswellbrook RSL Group is a highly respected community organisation in the Upper Hunter region. The business is financially sound, operating with no debt, and enjoys a strong local presence in a thriving mining community just 1.5 hours from Newcastle and 3 hours from Sydney.

About the Group
The Muswellbrook RSL Group operates a diverse portfolio, including:
  • Muswellbrook RSL Club (88 gaming machines)
  • Muswellbrook Golf Clubhouse (19 gaming machines)
  • 18‑hole public Golf Course – the only one between Newcastle and Tamworth
  • Pro Shop, including two squash courts and a golf simulator
  • Centabrook Motor Inn – a 16‑room motel located adjacent to the RSL Club
Both clubs operate with contract caterers, and the Group employs approximately 40 staff, plus catering staff across both venues. Governance is provided by a Board of seven Directors, with day‑to‑day leadership driven by a committed CEO and senior management team.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO will play a critical role in the day‑to‑day operational management of the Group. This is a hands‑on leadership position, suited to a senior club professional who enjoys being visible on the floor, supporting teams, and driving operational excellence across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Assisting the CEO in overseeing daily operations across all business units
  • Leading, mentoring and supporting venue management and staff
  • Ensuring compliance with gaming, liquor, WHS and regulatory requirements
  • Overseeing operational performance, efficiencies and service standards
  • Supporting strategic initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, contractors and the community


Our Ideal Candidate

You bring senior club management experience with strong operational leadership across gaming, hospitality and multi‑venue environments. You’re practical, collaborative and compliance‑focused, with high standards of governance and customer service.
