Job Description
Sous ChefBusy Frontline Bistro South Coast Jervis Bay Area
Join a welcoming and well-supported South Coast club known for its strong local following, high-volume bistro, and focus on quality food and service. This is a venue where members and guests expect a great experience every time, and the kitchen plays a big part in delivering that.
We are looking for a hands-on Sous Chef who enjoys being on the floor, leading service and supporting the team where it matters most. You’ll take the lead running the pass during busy evening service, while also assisting the team across lunch and shoulder periods to keep things moving smoothly.
This is not a back-office role; it’s perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, enjoys leading from the front, and wants to be part of a strong, collaborative club environment.
About the Role
Working alongside an established and high-performing kitchen team, you’ll help drive food quality, service standards, and kitchen efficiency, ensuring every plate leaving the kitchen meets expectations.
As Sous Chef, you will play a key leadership role in a team of approximately 8 chefs. You will be expected to:
- Lead service from the pass and coordinate kitchen operations during busy trading periods.
- Support and mentor an established team of chefs and apprentices.
- Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
- Ensure meals are delivered quickly and efficiently during high-volume service.
- Assist with rostering, ordering, stock control, and food cost management.
- Uphold food safety, WHS, and kitchen compliance requirements.
- Work closely with senior management to continually improve kitchen performance.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef in a busy bistro, club, pub, or hospitality venue.
- Be a strong leader who leads by example and earns respect through action.
- Remain calm and organised under pressure.
- Have excellent communication and team-building skills.
- Possess a genuine passion for producing quality food and delivering outstanding customer experiences.
- Hold relevant trade qualifications and food safety knowledge.
- A well-established venue with strong trade and consistent patronage.
- An experienced and capable kitchen team ready to support you.
- Competitive salary package.
- Stable, long-term employment opportunity.
- The chance to make a genuine impact in a successful and growing operation.
If you're ready to take ownership of service, lead a talented team, and hit the ground running in a busy kitchen environment, we'd love to hear from you.
This style will appeal to experienced club, pub and bistro chefs who want responsibility and leadership rather than purely administrative kitchen management.
This role is being advertised via the White Now job board; however, recruitment is being handled directly by the Club. Please direct all enquiries appropriately.
