About the OrganisationThe Club Burwood RSL Group is seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer to lead one of NSW most successful, prosperous, and community-focused hospitality and entertainment organisations.
Boasting a combined and growing membership of 42,000, three modern venues within the Burwood LGA, net assets of $350 million, and an annual turnover of $80 million, the Group has commenced an exciting new phase of strategic growth, innovation, and transformation.
About the Role
The position is becoming available due to the retirement of the incumbent CEO.
This is a career defining opportunity for a visionary and commercially astute executive. Beyond providing overarching leadership to the Group's existing venues, the incoming CEO will partner with an expert project team to spearhead the multi-year development, pre-opening, and commercial launch late 2029 of a landmark $300+ million premier club facility currently being built in the Burwood city precinct.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will ensure operational excellence, long-term financial sustainability, and a culture of continuous improvement. The role requires a dynamic leader who can seamlessly balance high-performance commercial outcomes with the Group’s deep-rooted community values and proud RSL heritage.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Drive long-term organisational strategy, asset diversification, and sustainable commercial growth.
- Capital Project Oversight: Provide executive governance over the $300M flagship precinct development, ensuring a seamless pre-opening phase and successful launch.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee multi-venue operations, high-volume food and beverage, gaming machine operations, multi-room events, and premium service standards.
- Financial Stewardship: Lead financial management and governance, capital allocation, and risk management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict compliance over the NSW regulatory environment, responsible gaming frameworks, and corporate governance.
- Board & Corporate Governance: Provide timely, accurate and strategic advice to support Board decision-making, ensuring the organisation maintains the highest standards of governance, risk management and accountability.
- Community Engagement: Represent the Group with key community and government agencies, strengthen relationships with members and the wider community and promote the Group as an industry leader within the NSW club sector
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain trusted relationships with the Board of Directors, members, staff, and key community partners.
- People & Culture: Inspire, mentor, and align a high-performing executive team while fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
Candidate Profile
To be successful in this high-profile role, you will be an accomplished executive with a proven track record of leadership within large-scale hospitality, entertainment, or registered club environments.
Essential Criteria:
- Scale Experience: Proven success managing a registered club or major hospitality asset with an annual turnover exceeding $20 million.
- Financial & Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated history of managing multi-million-dollar cash flows, large asset portfolios, and diversified business units (including high-volume EGM operations, F&B, and event spaces).
- Tertiary Qualifications: Must have Management or Finance tertiary qualifications.
- Development Capability: Exposure to large-scale capital works, property development, or major venue launches is highly advantageous.
- Regulatory: Mastery of the NSW regulatory environment, liquor licensing, and responsible gambling frameworks. Applicant must satisfy the criteria to be appointed secretary to manage the liquor licence.
- Governance Excellence: Experience reporting to and collaborating with an elected Board of Directors.
