Job Description

Golf Operations Manager
   
South West Rocks Country Club, located on the beautiful Mid North Coast of NSW, halfway between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour has an exceptional opportunity available for an experienced, energetic and service driven professional to join our thriving and supportive team to oversee all business operations of Golf, delivering excellent Golf Services and experiences for our members and visitors.
  
The Club not only boasts a picturesque, challenging 18-hole golf course, known for its tree-lined fairways and significant hazards requiring accuracy, high quality and manicured greens, it also has a Pro Shop, large Club house with 2 dining facilities, 3 bowling greens, Croquet Court, 4 tennis courts and 6 lane Tenpin bowling; this is one of the best coastal relocation opportunities a seaside town can offer with a thriving community, stunning beaches and scenic national parks.
  
The Club has just adopted its newly drafted strategic plan, and in conjunction with its new  Golfing Business Model, there is a priority focus on Golf strategic management, technology, rebranding and diversifying the course. The successful applicant will not only be focused on daily operations, growth & sustainability but will be fundamental in the achievements of the strategic outcomes. The successful applicant will be given all the support and opportunities to make their mark in the golf industry.
  
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)
  
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of golf.
  • Drive growth in membership, rounds played, competition and events
  • Manage the Pro-Shop, its staff, and retail operations including merchandising, inventory control, supplier relationships and retail performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key golf industry suppliers, specialists, corporate partners and community groups.
  • Coordinate and manage major club events and championships.
  • Maintain strong working relationships & communication with management regarding competitions and golf programming.
  • Monitor participation and performance and identify new revenue opportunities.
  • Apply a structured approach to strategies that align with the vision and mission of the club and its strategic plan, its operational policies and procedures.
  • Develop a school’s outreach program in the aim of increasing junior memberships.
  • Maintain Workplace Health & Safety Compliance
  • Cart fleet, procurement, hire and maintenance.
  • Coaching and tuition of golfing lessons and clinics
  
Leadership & Team Development
  • Collaborate and encourage team participation and professionalism
  • Cultivate a “service first” culture, prioritising member and visitor experiences
  • Support training and continuous improvement programming.
  
About You
  
You are an experienced golf professional, passionate about the game and excited to be a part of our newly developed Golf Business Model, which is gaining interest throughout the industry. You demonstrate leadership by taking initiative and empowering others. You are highly organised, confident and take ownership of your area of responsibility and easily collaborate with others.
  
Qualifications & Attributes
  
  • Current PGA Member (highly regarded)
  • High level of business acumen, integrity and professionalism.
  • An understanding of core golf club operations and key golf related business drivers.
  • Experience in using competition software.
  • Ability to understand, develop and interpret financial reports.
  • Strong retail and event management experience
  • Ability to inspire and lead your own team and liaise and work alongside other department heads.
  • Experience developing policies, procedures and staff training.
  • Professional understanding of course yield maximisation.
  • Marketing and service focused, bottom line (profit) driven.
