Job Description

Senior AML CTF Compliance Officer 

Wests Group Macarthur is one of Sydney's leading hospitality and entertainment groups, operating multiple venues across the Macarthur region. We are seeking a Senior AML/CTF Compliance Officer to support, manage and continuously improve our AML/CTF Program and strengthen compliance across our gaming operations. This role would be well suited to an experienced gaming leader with strong compliance capability who is ready to take the next step into a specialist compliance role. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will help protect the Group from financial crime risk, maintain compliance with AUSTRAC requirements and embed practical AML/CTF controls across our venues. You will also lead a team of AML/CTF Analysts and work closely with gaming leaders, venue management, executives and regulators. Over time, the role may provide an opportunity to broaden your experience across risk management, governance and compliance within a progressive and growing organisation. 

Key Responsibilities 
  • Manage and continuously improve the Group's AML/CTF Program and Risk Assessment. 
  • Act as the Group's nominated AML/CTF Compliance Officer. 
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of AML/CTF Analysts. 
  • Monitor and manage customer due diligence (CDD) activities for identified patrons, including customer verification, source of funds enquiries, enhanced due diligence and ongoing risk assessments where required. 
  • Oversee and continuously improve the organisation's Transaction Monitoring Program (TMP), including the identification, investigation and escalation of unusual customer activity, suspicious transactions and emerging money laundering risks. 
  • Manage the engagement of external AML/CTF auditors, including audit selection, coordination and oversight of audit outcomes and remediation activities. 
  • Prepare and submit AUSTRAC reports, including Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs). 
  • Monitor legislative changes and provide practical compliance advice. 
  • Develop and deliver AML/CTF training across the Group. 
  • Build strong relationships with AUSTRAC, Liquor & Gaming NSW and key stakeholders. 
  • Prepare AML/CTF reports for Executive and Board review. 

What You'll Bring 
  • Experience in gaming operations, gaming compliance, gaming management, risk management or regulatory compliance. 
  • Strong understanding of gaming operations, venue controls and associated regulatory obligations.  
  • Practical knowledge of AML/CTF obligations, AUSTRAC requirements and financial crime controls, or the ability to quickly build specialist expertise.  
  • Experience identifying, investigating or escalating unusual customer activity, patron risk or compliance concerns.  
  • Strong analytical, investigation and stakeholder management skills, with sound judgement and discretion.  
  • The ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical processes for frontline gaming and venue teams. 
  • Experience within clubs, casinos, gaming or hospitality. 
  • Current RSA, RCG and driver's licence.
