Key Responsibilities

Job Description

General Manager
The Randwick Group of Clubs | Sydney Eastern Suburbs

The Randwick Group of Clubs is entering an important new chapter, with its operations now focused on two community venues: The Avenue Randwick and Coogee Beach Club.

With an organisational change program already underway, the Group is seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead the day-to-day business, bring consistency across the two venues and help establish a stable and sustainable operating platform for the future.

This is not a traditional, corporate club CEO position. It is an operational leadership role for an experienced venue, hospitality or club manager who enjoys being visible in the business, leading people from the front and taking responsibility for service, standards and commercial performance.

About the Role
Reporting to the Board and working closely with the Group’s Acting CEO and change manager during the transition, the General Manager will assume responsibility for the operation and licensed management of the Group’s two venues.

The Avenue Randwick and Coogee Beach Club operate more like community-focused hospitality venues than large gaming-led clubs. Food and beverage, functions, customer experience, people leadership and community connection are therefore central to the role.

The successful candidate will be expected to spend time across both venues, supporting the teams, strengthening operating disciplines and ensuring the Group presents a consistent and welcoming experience to its members and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operations and performance of The Avenue Randwick and Coogee Beach Club
  • Fulfil the required licensed club management responsibilities for the Group
  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership across both venues
  • Drive food and beverage, functions and broader hospitality performance
  • Establish consistent operating standards, systems and processes across the two clubs
  • Bring together reporting, controls and administrative practices across the Group
  • Build accountability, capability and engagement within the venue teams
  • Maintain strong financial discipline and improve operational efficiency
  • Ensure appropriate governance, compliance, risk and licensing requirements are met
  • Work constructively with the Board and provide clear, practical and reliable reporting
  • Support the organisational changes already underway and embed improvements into day-to-day operations
  • Strengthen relationships with members, guests and the local community
About You
You will be an experienced hospitality or club operator who is comfortable taking ownership of a multi-venue business and remaining closely connected to its daily operations.

You may currently be managing a club, pub, hotel or hospitality venue and be ready to take on broader responsibility across two locations. Experience within a large, gaming-led club environment is not essential. Of greater importance is your ability to lead people, manage food and beverage operations, maintain operational standards and work effectively within a Board-governed organisation.

You will demonstrate:
  • Senior operational leadership experience within clubs, pubs, hotels or hospitality venues
  • Strong food and beverage and venue management capability
  • A practical, visible and approachable leadership style
  • The required qualifications and eligibility to fulfil the Group’s licensed club management requirements
  • Sound commercial and financial management capability
  • Experience building effective teams and setting clear standards
  • Confidence introducing and maintaining systems, controls and operating processes
  • Strong governance, compliance and risk awareness
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a Board
  • A collaborative, accountable and solutions-focused approach
  • The flexibility to work across both Randwick and Coogee
Why Join the Randwick Group?
  • Take leadership responsibility for two well-located community hospitality venues
  • Join the Group during an important period of renewal and improvement
  • Work with an experienced change leader during the transition
  • Shape consistent systems, service standards and culture across both venues
  • Work directly with the Board while remaining operationally connected to the business
  • Make a visible and lasting contribution to the Group’s members, employees and local communities
Ready to Make an Impact?
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hospitality operator who wants to step into a broader General Manager position without moving away from the people, venues and day-to-day operations that make hospitality rewarding.

If you are a capable, visible and commercially minded leader who enjoys building teams, creating structure and improving venue performance, we would welcome your interest.
